SquirrelMail - Webmail for Nuts!
If you're looking for a solid webmail package, SquirrelMail is it. I've been searching for one for a while now. Mainly for Georgia to use-- I use NetIdentity myself. She's used Hotmail for years, but the spam has gotten too much to bear (even using their 'high' setting for spam filtering, she was getting more spam than real e-mail).
But having SquirrelMail is wonderful-- the interface is clean. It handles everything she needs and then some. And if spam ever becomes a problem, we'll just activate SpamAssassin.
I've installed EzPop for her to monitor her inbox... she still checks the Hotmail account too, which we've rigged to play the AOL "You've got mail" sound clip (she likes that clip, but I've been tempted to create one that says "You've got junk mail" for the Hotmail account). She needed a different sound for her SquirrelMail account, so I took the AOL clip and sped it up-- sounds appropriate I think! :)
