Oscillating Goliath

Last night, something stroking my arm came into my dream. It was Savannah, in real life, wanting company while she went to the potty. I seems being up at night alone is just strange for little ones.

She went back to bed, but a minute later I heard footsteps and a light tap, tap, tap on my arm. She said something about her oscillating fan being scary. (A couple of weeks ago she said her fan had been a giant with one big boot.)

I started talking, not knowing what I was going to say 'til I said it. I laughed and said matter-of-factly that "Mama and Daddy bought that fan at Sears. It came in a box, and Daddy put it together. You helped him. If you get scared, you just pray and Jesus will pat you on the back," patting her on the back.

I told her she could turn the fan off if she wanted, although she might get warm. After going back to her room, I heard the off button click. She went back to sleep just fine.

In addition to being off the next morning, her fan had a sweater and hat draped over it. Tonight at bedtime, she insisted on covering it again. She got agitated when I showed doubt, afraid it would over heat. I turned it off, and we covered it up with a sweater and two hats. Tomorrow we'll read David and Goliath again.
