Sleeping like a baby

It's hard for parents of a little one to understand what the phrase "sleeping like a baby" means. A synonym for it is "relief." I've always thought Savannah looks like a different person when she's asleep. Her face is perfectly relaxed. Something I don't think adults can do, with the years of stress behind them. She went quietly off to sleep this afternoon, with a small amount of pleasant babbling to herself. You'd think with 2 1/2 years of experience, she'd know how by now. But she's given me so much grief lately, calling me, one way or another, back into her room: a tissue, pottying, a tuck-in and a hug and kiss. This Sunday I brought Brad in with me to her bedroom, and in a sense we ganged up on her. There is power in numbers. I know what that means. It's why we were not meant to raise a child on our own.
