I guess they use Perl
Simply amazing. DynDNS, a site that provides free dynamic DNS service to close to 200,000 users, has donated $20,000 to the Perl Foundation. Here's their press release about it. DynDNS is a volunteer organization, relying mostly on user donations themselves (my measly $10 donation from 2+ years ago is on page 19).
It's amazing because here we have one volunteer organization funding another. Frankly, It puts the corporate world to shame. Please-- if your company uses Perl in any way, do your part to encourage your company to donate something to this fund.
You can check the fund drive status page here. By checking the status page, it looks like Tim Wilde (founder of DynDNS) and DynDNS are already credited for prior, substantial donations. How do they do it?
